Cosmetic Plastic Surgery In New York City:
Upper Blepharoplasty (Eyelid)
The first sign of sagging in the upper eye is difficulty applying make-up, as eye shadow disappears below the sagging skin and is often a waste of time. As the corners of the eye droop, many people also appear worried or tired all the time and the problem can also affect their peripheral vision.
A Brow Lift may help the situation and works as a standalone remedy for some patients, but for most, Blepharoplasty or a combination of surgeries is the answer for heavy eyelids.
Blepharoplasty
Dr. Born’s eyelid surgery techniques are unique and require more time than a ‘standard Blepharoplasty’. Adding volume to the eyebrow and temple region helps lift the eyebrow and restore the volume of tissue that is lost with aging. This improves the frame of the eye and thus the eye appears softer and less tired.
Blepharoplasty can help reduce the appearance of aging and tiredness, such as:
Sagging of the upper eyelids
Droopiness of the corners of the eye
There are two steps to rejuvenation of the lower eyelid:
Micro-fat Grafting adds volume to the deep layer of the brow so lumps or irregularities are very uncommon
Shaping the skin of the upper eyelid is to give a rested appearance that isn’t hollow or too tight. A small amount of puffy fat of the eyelid is trimmed to make the contour smooth
The goal is to eliminate the sagginess that comes with aging by tightening the excess skin. This will ensure that the eye looks rested, not distorted or changed from how the eye appeared in your youth.
Preparation As with all surgeries performed by Dr. Born, patients are prescribed supplements to take before and after the surgery, to help prepare and recover faster and without complications.
Procedure length The length of this procedure takes approximately one hour while you’re asleep or under sedation. You will be allowed to leave the same day.
Recovery The sutures are removed four days after surgery. Small adhesives are placed on the incisions for a few days while the early healing continues and you may return to your normal activities five to seven days after surgery. There may some bruising for 7 to 10 days, and occasionally for three weeks due to the fat grafting.
There are some general risks intrinsic to all surgical procedures; please take a moment to review them.
The Result The patient will appear younger, rested and alert – not altered or different. The results are undetectable and last 7 to 10 years.
It is important to note that each surgery is tailored to meet the unique needs and features of individual patients.
What other patients want Many patients combine Upper Blepharoplasty with other facial rejuvenating procedures such as aFace Lift, Lower Blepharoplasty or Body Contouring to achieve an overall enhancement of their appearance.
